The Race - Virtual Style

Race Anywhere

Find your own happy place - out on the trails, meandering country roads, or in your own neighborhood.  Please avoid congested areas and observe all safety guidelines and local mandates.

Race Anytime in October

The race window opens up on October 1 and all activities must be completed and logged by midnight on October 31.

It's just fine with us if you cross-post the same mileage across the different Rick's Run events and even across other virtual events/challenges that you may be participating in at the same time.

Five Events - Five Ways to Challenge Yourself

1

5.22 Mile Race

The 5.22 Mile Race is the virtual equivalent of a single loop of the Rick's Run course at Greenbrier State Park.  Awards will be given to the first place overall male and female finishers and first/second place Masters (40+) finishers.

Participants may optionally purchase the 2020 Rick's Run race shirt.

2

8-Hour Ultra Challenge

The 8-Hour Ultra Challenge is for those who wish to push the mileage in a single event.  Within the allotted eight hours, run as far as you like - or as far as you can.  Slow or as fast, it's all fine, and there is no requirement to run for the full eight hours.  If you'd like, run anything over the standard 26.2 mile marathon distance to log an ultra-distance finish.

When you finish, post your mileage on our RunSignUp Results Page. The top male and female runners in both the open and the Masters (40+) divisions that log the most mileage will receive awards.

All participants in this event will receive a 2020 Rick's Run gear bag. The 2020 Rick's Run race shirt will be available for separate purchase.

3

8-Hour Elevation Challenge
The 8-Hour Elevation Challenge is for those who choose to kill it on the HILLS!  Within the allotted eight hours, cover as much elevation as you can find. When you finish, post your mileage and elevation from your running app (Strava, or equivalent) on our RunSignUp Results Page. The top male and female runners in both the open and the Masters (40+) divisions that log the most elevation will receive awards.

All participants in this event will receive a 2020 Rick's Run gear bag. The 2020 Rick's Run race shirt will be available for separate purchase.

4

8-Day, 1-Hour Challenge

The 8-Day, 1-Hour Challenge is targeted to runners who want to break their eight hours of running into 1-hour segments on eight consecutive days. Start your eight days anytime between October 1 and October 24th, and log up to one-hour of running each day for eight days.   Your eight days must complete by October 31st, so you will have to start by October 24th to get the full eight days in.  The first day that you log your mileage is Day One and you can post an hour's worth of mileage each day until Day Eight. If you miss a day, it's OK, but don't tack it on the end!  Your mileages must be tallied across eight consecutive days.  Enter each day's mileage on our RunSignUp Results Page.

The top male and female runners in both the open and the Masters (40+) divisions that log the most miles in one hour across eight consecutive days will receive awards.
All participants in this event will receive a 2020 Rick's Run gear bag. The 2020 Rick's Run race shirt will be available for separate purchase.

Name-Your-Challenge

The Name-Your-Challenge is a freestyle event where you set your own goal, and tally your results online. You will have an opportunity to customize your challenge when you register.  This is all about your own personal challenge and goals.  Enter the number of "thingies" you do each day on our RunSignUp Results Page and applaud your progress as you push to complete your challenge. You might want to do pushups, situps, record a running streak, record your biggest mileage month ever, swim laps, do planks... The options are endless and we can't wait to see what you come up with.

While we will help you track your progress online on our RunSignUp results page, there are no official standings or awards related to this event.

All participants in this event will receive a 2020 Rick's Run gear bag. The 2020 Rick's Run race shirt will be available for separate purchase.
