Welcome to the 9th annual Rick's Run
October 10 2021
The Hybrid Solution!
Rick's Run has traditionally honored two beloved FSRC runners who lost their lives much too soon, Rick O' Donnell and Larry Key. Sadly, this year we are adding another honoree to the list, John Godinet. John was a local running hero that lost his 5-year battle with ALS on May 7, 2021. John was a predominant figure in our running community, remembered fondly for the countless events that he participated in over the years, from 5ks to 100-milers. He was instrumental in bringing many, many people to the world of running over the years, and he will especially be remembered for the kindness and joy that he spread wherever he went. Simply put, John radiated contagious happiness.
Our motto for this year's Rick's Run is "Live Like John" in which we will strive to enjoy every moment, laugh in the face of adversity, and show loving kindness to everyone we meet.
We are planning to hold a safe in-person race in 2021, with some adjustments and accommodations to ensure the safety of our runners and volunteers. We're also offering a virtual option for participants who are unable to run with us on race day, or who are more comfortable with the "Run Anywhere" approach.
Runners will be able to transfer between the virtual and in-person events until October 1. If the in-person race is canceled due to continued COVID concerns (which is very unlikely), we will provide the option to defer to 2022, or transfer to virtual.
Rest assured that we are developing detailed COVID safety plans upfront, so that we are able to define the appropriate approach as race day draws near.
Stay tuned for updates!
ALL the proceeds go to the FSRC Memorial Scholarship Fund.

About the Frederick Steeplechasers
The Frederick Steeplechasers Running Club has been supporting runners, hosting races, and volunteering in the Frederick community since 1975. We promote running as a fun and healthy activity, and welcome runners of all ages and abilities. The Steeplechasers donate net proceeds of their four "Signature Races" to the community. In 2020 FSRC raised over $51,000 for local charitable causes through our virtual response to racing during the COVID-19 crisis.
